Political compass

A few days ago I posted the results of a 'Politics Test' that I did, that resoundingly concluded that I'm a dirty socialist. Of course the supreme grandaddy of political tests is the Political Compass, which I've done a few times in the past (and possibly linked to, back in the day?), and which I decided to do again because, well, anything's better than doing my software engineering assignment (anyone who knows anything about Hoare's logic, drop me a line!).

So yeah, political compass: turns out, once again, that I tend towards the left side of the scale, which really isn't that surprising I would think to anyone who's actually met me. I'm also far more libertarian than authoritarian, which I guess is true in some ways, but completely wrong in others. If you're truly interested, my results are here (Economic Left/Right: -5.13, Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -7.03). I'm in the same general region as Ghandi, Nelson Mandela and The Dalai Lama... I could think of worse company I would want to keep on the political scale. But yeah, do the test yourself and see where you end up.

EDIT: There's another political survey here, which claims to be more accurate and open than the political compass. I'm just as left on that one as well. This survey uses different labels for the vertical axis (pragmatic/idealistic rather than authoritarian/libertarian), and it turns out I'm about an even mix of pragmatist and idealist, which makes sense I guess. Anyway, here are my results.
