'Star Trek' set for '08 revival, J.J. Abrams set to direct.
This is so awesome. J.J. Abrams is a fantastic director (think Alias and Lost!), and if anyone is going to pull the Star Trek franchise out of the whole to which it was relegated after Nemesis, then he's the one to do it. It sucks a little that it's going to be Original Series - I think it's about time the Voyager crew got their own movie - but this is still bloody good news. Yay for new Star Trek movies!

really? you're excited? i mean abrams is cool and all but the risk that it's gonna be like a bad restart of the whole series is gonna be annoying - plus which evolutions of the various aliens do they use?
too much risk for badness for me to loose my interest
I have to admit, I think it is rather cool. But looking at Alias episodes recently... let's just say they've lost their edge. Let's hope that Star Trek isn't going to slide away like that. Nonetheless, it is exciting news.
