Library smut and boing boing

Hot Library Smut: photos from the absolutely beautiful book Libraries by Candida Höfer, which Sandro actually borrowed a few months ago. Some of the photos are incredible.

On a slightly related note: I found the link for that site on kottke.org, like most of the interesting things I look at on the net these days. Earlier this week I unsubscribed from the boing boing feed in my bloglines account, and have not missed one tiny little bit at all. I've been an avid and devoted reader of boingboing for a long time, but there's only so many one-sided fanatical rants about copyright, airport security, and sex toys that I can stand (I only had to scan down the current front page to find all those posts - and there were several I could have chosen from for each 'category'). I usually enjoy Mark Frauenfelder and David Pescovitz's stuff, but their posts are always lost in amongst all the boring crap from Cory Doctrow and Xeni Jardin. I'll follow 3 or 4 of Jason Kottke's links a day, but probably only 2 boing boing links a week, because, well, they're crap. So good riddance, boing boing, and long live kottke.org!

Hard core!!! Show your displeasure at boingboing... though I must agree that it is not as good as when I first subscribed

UPDATE! Apparently George Lucas ripped off the design for the library in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones from one of the libraries featured in that book, the Trinity College library in Dublin. See the damning evidence here.

(Link found at kottke.org, of course.)

really, boingboing was never that good - it always required trawling to find worthwhile bits

re the libraries: that bothered me in the cinema that the jedi's books, or hard-drives or whatever glowed - lucas coulda done better

my boing boing feed hasn't been working for a few weeks now... haven't missed it either :)

but just in general my bloglines seems a bit screwy ("saved" posts that i can't even see... some new ones don't even show up)

as an aside (future pun intended) the flickr sidebar (chuckle) you have seems to be getting more and more random by the day, as people start to upload holiday snaps and not keep them private by my guess...
