My life is now complete.
This morning I shook the hands of Crown Prince Frederick and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
Yep, it's true. The couple were at the ANU this morning to witness the signing of an agreement with two Danish universities. A group of us got there over an hour before and snagged ourselves a prime position on the rope-line. Late-comers tried to get our spots (especially pushy mothers with annoying children), but we held firm, and in return we were at the very front when they arrived!
Impressions? Frederick is teh hot, but I think we all knew that. On the way back we all agreed that Mary isn't hot, but elegantly beautiful instead.
And the people in the marketing and communications department at the ANU have weird hair colours.
It's kinda weird when you're there. On one hand, well, they're royalty and it's all very exciting and you just want to see them. But on the other hand, you feel like a right royal (haha) idiot, because you're hanging out to see, well, just two people. One of whom lived a fairly ordinary life in Tasmania until a few years ago. So yeah, all kinda strange.
But at least I wasn't the old woman desperately clutching a copy of fairytales to her chest, or the Danish woman berating a cameraman for standing in front of her. No, I was just the one scowling at the little kids for being impertinent enough to try and take my spot! :p
Photos will follow soon!
